Vote Elections Operator
For the Election of the Century, I joined the Associated Press as a Vote Elections Operator (VEO). As part of a national team, I tabulated votes remotely into A.P.'s database. Telecommuting was mandatory due to COVID restrictions. From home in San Francisco (Ca), I partnered with local stringers and election workers throughout the country to aggregate and update votes from numerous counties across five states. Stretched over a span of one week, these efforts included:
-
learning and applying election rhetoric
-
calling local stringers in the field
-
calling county Election Board staff
-
combing and cross-referencing votes with Secretary of State and Election Board sites
-
updating and verifying votes on a daily basis
-
working live and simultaneously in different time zones (PST, CST, EST)
-
communicating and data entry through various software programs:

slack
Amazon Workspaces (AWS)
Microsoft Outlook
Microsoft Authenticator
